Set a safety area that will trigger an alert if a device leaves the area
With the geofence feature, admins can set a safety perimeter for someone in their organization and trigger a call to the dispatch center when the user's device leaves the safety area or when their location is unknown. To configure a geofence, go to the Geofence tab and zoom the map down to the street level. Click the "Add New Geofence" button.
Add a name and the phone number of the device that should be tied to the geofence. You will see a polygon on the map that can be dragged to a specific shape and area that you would like to configure as the safety area. Click the "Save Geofence Changes" button.
During implementation, you will be asked to identify two phone numbers:
- One to call when a device leaves the geofenced area
- One to call when the location for a device is unknown
Depending on if a device leaves the geofence, or the location of the device assigned to a geofence becomes unknown, an alert will be triggered to the appropriate number provided. This can be a local security center for your organization or the POM emergency services dispatch center.
